College students and new graduates are often very resistant to engaging with LinkedIn because they feel like their profiles have to be brilliant and perfect . It feels false and “not me”, and the result is that they often they don’t even engage. Or they have that profile that they were forced to make in a class their freshman year; with no picture, no profile statement and 11 contacts.
I am not after perfection when coaching new graduates on their LinkedIn profiles – but they absolutely need to be there and be there professionally – as potential good hires with a reasonable amount of contacts. So watch the video below for my tips to help college students and new graduates develop an acceptable LinkedIn profile – it is a start and we adjust as we go forward. Then we work on getting them to use it as a tool 😊.
