Susan Hay, Managing Partner
Susan is a Founder and Managing Partner at LaunchingU, where she works with college students and new college graduates, helping them launch their careers with power and focus. This work integrates her background as a therapist and over 18 years in key human resource leadership roles in Fortune 500 companies in the industrial manufacturing, energy, and financial services industries and in executive search.
Preceding her successful career in the corporate sector, Susan was a partner with Strategies, Inc., an organizational development and training consulting firm. Before that she worked for a number of years as a therapist in residential treatment programs for adolescents, and had a private practice in New York City.
These are Susan's credentials, but at the heart of things, it's always been about working with people. Throughout her career she has had the privilege of coaching people at all levels as they moved into new roles and/or companies. She is passionately committed to her current work with people early in their careers, helping them to establish their career direction and to thrive during periods of transition.
Susan has a BS from Lycoming College and an MS from the New School for Social Research and resides in New Hampshire with her husband and son.
Emily (Porschitz) Benson, Ph.D., Partner
Emily T. Porschitz is a Career Coach and an Associate Professor at Keene State College. She earned her Ph.D. at the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst where she received the Stanley Young Memorial Award for her dissertation research. She has also received a B.A. from Vassar College and M.B.A. from Plymouth State University.
Before graduate school, Emily worked as a recruiter in the IT industry, and in Human Resources and Recruitment in the construction industry. Her research interests currently include the careers of young professionals and she has published in book chapters, journal articles and presented at international management conferences on this topic. She teaches in the areas of Management and Organizational Behavior, and is passionate about teaching and working with students and young professionals to help them launch their careers.
Ray Huizenga, Senior Coach/Consultant
Ray Huizenga has over 30 years of business, human resources, leadership and consulting experience. He has held leadership roles in diverse organizations, including a Fortune 200 utility, insurance, high tech manufacturing, software and consulting firms. In three of these companies he has served as VP – Global HR. Ray has helped organizations achieve a competitive advantage through their people by aligning HR strategy and plans with business objectives, and by engaging and aligning employees.
Ray’s passion for HR work has always centered on helping individuals realize and achieve their full potential and career objectives. He has served as a personal coach and mentor to numerous individuals at all levels in organizations, from executive team members to new graduates. Many of these individuals have gone on to take several promotions, move into better jobs and/or start new careers. He has also worked with students from high school through college, helping them select and move into careers consistent with their vision.
Ray has a B.E. and M.M.S. from Stevens Institute of Technology, and splits his time between offices in Portsmouth, NH, and Myrtle Beach, SC.
Joelle Marquis, Advisor
Joelle is a Partner at Arsenal Capital Partners (ACP), a NY based, $1.8 billion, progressive, private equity firm that invests in middle-market companies with up to $500MM enterprise value. She is a pioneer in private equity where she has paved the way to ensure that human capital is valued as much as financial capital.
Joelle’s career spans more than 20 years as a General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and senior leader of Human Capital. She has led organizations nationally and globally and of varying size, scope and maturity. She implements and manages best practices in talent selection, acquisition, onboarding, development and retention. She has been an executive coach and mentor, helping people move powerfully and successfully in their careers, for over 2 decades.
She has published related articles, spoken at numerous professional forums and contributes to the community by serving on the boards of both for-profit and non-profit organizations.
Joelle has had a long-standing commitment to improving the quality of life for others in powerful and productive ways. She’s applied this passion in her work as an adjunct faculty member, her 19 years of mentoring students, through an in-home tutoring business she and her husband started and then sold and now through her work with LaunchingU. Joelle holds a B.S. in Business Administration, a M.S. in Organizational Development, has her SPHR certification and successfully completed the Executive Program at the University of Michigan.
She is the mother of three and resides in Fleming Island, Florida with her husband and teenage children.
