Landed an internship for the summer? Congratulations, that’s a major accomplishment!
BUT – it’s only the FIRST step to an internship that will help you on the job market – you still have a long ways to go.
Internships are incredibly important pre-requisite for landing your first professional job after college. However, it is NOT ENOUGH to simply have an internship on your resume; the internship needs to have given you experience and skills you can brag about. In a perfect world, all internships would be challenging, dynamic and fun. You would all meet your life-long mentors, figure out your passion and make friends along the way. While reality is far from perfect, we are here to help you make the most of your summer internship in 2017!
We invite you to join us this summer for “LaunchingU’s Acing your Internship” (AYI). AYI is an added outside support system of career coaches and peers to ensure that your summer internship is a positive, challenging experience that will add depth and richness to your resume and other career materials. You will gain confidence and learn how to build important professional relationships. And, we’re going to have fun along the way!
AYI will run online (so you can take the course from anywhere in the world!) parallel to your summer internship. You’ll be able to use the information you’re learning in our workshop every day when you go into work.
Each week, for seven weeks this summer, you’ll receive a packet of information and worksheets that introduce important topics that will help you advance your career. Don’t worry, they aren’t overwhelming, and you’re not being graded on them!
Topics will include critical information on: developing your confidence and professional identity, developing a great working relationship with your supervisor, making your projects count, telling your professional stories, networking like a pro, and more. We’ll also host interactive weekly webinars that will guide you through the worksheets and encourage you to try out some new professional skills on the job. We’ll also add you to a special Facebook group just for those in the workshop. There we’ll be able to address specific internship and career-related questions that you have, and encourage you to get to know and support each other.
As a participant in our workshop you’ll also have two thirty-minute coaching sessions free of cost, and access to discounted one-on-one coaching within one year of taking the course.
The workshop runs from June 5th until the end of July 21st, although if your internship is on a slightly different schedule, not to worry. The class will be small enough and flexible enough to accommodate your needs.
